Pregnancy: week 9ish

This post was written previously.

I'm thankful to report from week 9 of pregnancy that there has been much less nausea this time than with Owen.

But when it strikes, boy does it ever.

For the majority of the day I'm feeling really good.  Perhaps I'm better at preparing myself with small snacks or eating proper meals this time, but all I know is that I'm not suffering like I was with Owen.  (Yet?)  This obviously makes me hopeful that it's a girl since this is such a different experience.  We'll find out in June!

That's right- we're finding out the gender sex this time.  Since this is more than likely our last, I need to be prepared!  I'll be knitting and sewing up some cute ruffly girly stuff if that's the case.  Otherwise, we'll know we're all set with everything we need.

Overall, though, I'm feeling good and we're getting excited to be near the 1/4 mark.  It's going by quickly- much quicker than last time- and it's often easy to forget that I'm pregnant.  Surely that has to do with the 2.75 foot blonde-haired focus of my attention these days.

I'm pretty tired, though, and am thankful that I get to work here at home.  I can't believe I was working on my feet right up until the end with my last pregnancy.  Working moms: you are superheroes.  I am hoping to get more active now that the weather is nicer.  Bike rides and afternoon walks, here I come!  For now, the mid-morning nap with Owen is key.  Love me some naps.

Today I scheduled our first prenatal appointment at Alma birth center.  We've met our midwife already at a consultation and are excited to move forward with Alma.  We still haven't decided on a home birth vs. birth center birth but we've got time to figure that out.  There's really no difference in care but there's the obvious difference of being at home vs. "somewhere else" and then the move that needs to happen post-partum from BC to home.  It sure would be nice to just stay here post-partum, though there are also benefits to being at the center (hello doulas and chefs and post-partum massage!)  We'll see.  It's a lot to think about, especially with an older sibling in tow.
