Halloween

We don't go trick-or-treating on Halloween because it's a little too much for Owen to handle at this point, so we went to a friend's house instead.  The costumes were not exactly stellar, and I don't have any photos!  But here's one of me painting a pumpkin, and one of Kraig dressed up as Johnny Depp  a pirate!

Kaua'i: getting situated

After fueling up at Starbucks on our way to the cottage, we stopped off at a waterfall where I wanted to snap a few photos.  The boys were napping so I just hopped out really quickly.

It was another 40 minute drive to the cottage and we were so impressed when we arrived!  The cottage is located on a 13-acre organic fruit farm.

our bedroom and ladder up to the loft where Owen slept.

Being serenaded

Standing in the living room looking through the cottage- that is another loft to a second bedroom that we didn't use.

Bowl of farm-fresh fruit!
We got situated and then headed out toward the grocery store in Princeville.  There is a beautiful viewpoint right off the highway so of course, we had to stop and check it out.

Kaua'i: Day one

Our flight to Seattle and then Lihue were fairly uneventful.  It was Dylan's first flight and he is, well, a little more rambunctious than Owen.  He wanted to move, move, move but we managed to wrestle with him for 6 hours and not lose our minds.  Win!

The Lihue airport is kind of open-air, which was really awesome and also really hot and muggy.  Kraig had arranged for a special Lei welcoming ceremony for us at the airport.  It was a bit of a trek from baggage to the car rental office to the shuttle, but we managed and were finally in our rental car and on our way to the cottage.

Love them.

We love this little family so much.

So so so so so so much.
We are the definition of kindred spirits.  Seriously.
The best part?  They might be moving to a house 1 mile away from us.  Is it close enough?
Nah.  But it will do.  Ideally we'd all live in one big house together.
It would seriously cut back on our travel costs :-)

And these babies, oh my.

Disclaimer about bad light as it was late late late in the day, but still.  They are CUTE.

[Insert joke here about arranged marriages and how the following photo bodes for Dylan....]

She is just as sweet as can be.

And she can't keep her hands off my boy...

These two....

Cell phone photos, but cute as all get out.

Her leg is fine- just a beautiful birthmark :-)

Fun craft project.... part one.

"hood party for Kraig's birthday!

We've celebrated three of Kraig's birthdays here, but this is the first year we've had a neighborhood party.  It was so fun, but really any party that ends with a dance party is a huge success, amiright?

Kraig and Bruno being silly-

And even more silly....

Papa Gordon and Dyl

I'm blurry but hey, it's still a family photo right?

(Vegan chocolate cupcakes with rocky road topping (choco frosting, vegan marshmallows, sliced almonds and caramel drizzle), peanut butter frosting, and german chocolate topping.  OMG YUM.)

The boys are wearing Timbers gear because Kraig got to go to his THIRD Timbers game of the season.  Lucky guy.  I've gone to exactly zero.  But he's had a ton of fun and has had amazing seats the past two games because their star player gives him free tix.  Did I mention how lucky he is?

Hot tamales.
