Our stay at the birth center

Our time at Alma was so wonderful.  We had a postpartum doula (they provide this) 24 hours a day.  She would check our vitals and offer help, but also left us alone when we were resting.  They cooked two meals for us and picked up food from a restaurant of our choosing one meal each day.  They also made me mugs and mugs of tea.... They were all so kind, and we are so thankful to have had such a peaceful experience.

Kraig and Owen went home each night to rest (Owen was still recovering from his cold.)  We figured if half of us were well rested that we'd be better able to tackle the daytimes.  So it was just D and me at the birth center each night, which was fine and went really smoothly thanks to the doulas.

We left on Saturday- two days after he was born- but not before receiving a postpartum massage.  It was heavenly.

Some photos from Dylan's first day:

He spent a lot of time skin-to-skin with me, tucked in my shirt like a little kangaroo.  It was sweet.
