The yucks.

So, Owen and I have both had a bad case of gastroenteritis (tummy "flu") this week.  Hopefully Kraig is able to dodge it, but we'll see.

It's so weird to me that I never- literally, never- remember ever getting a stomach bug growing up.  As I recall, any vomiting (sorry) was due to poor food choices (ahem, eating too many sweets.)  I went through my teen years and early twenties without getting any such illness.  Well, now that we're in PDX I've gotten the yucks TWICE in the same year.  I think we're adjusting to the different strains of germs here on the west coast.  Hopefully in a few years we'll have bionic immune systems again.

I can't help but whine about being 9 months pregnant and vomiting, too.  Sounds fun, right?  Yeah, it's awful.  Between becoming dehydrated and feeling nauseous I was also battling regular, crampy contractions all night.  Thankfully I passed out here and there so I slept a fair amount.  I am also pleased to report that baby is still moving like a little ninja, so clearly he is no worse for wear.

Owen is still on the mend- we've been really cautious introducing some solid foods back into his diet, and it's going well.  He's on the BRAT diet, of course (bananas, rice, apples, toast) but maybe today we'll start some yogurt and veggies.  He's just so run-down, though.  He lies down on the floor and takes 45-minute long rests.  It's super sad!  I'm glad he's taking some downtime when he feels exhausted though.  I need to remember to do the same.  It was all too frightening to think I could be pushed into labor with all the tummy cramps/contractions/dehydration so I'm going to be sure to listen to my body and rest when I need to.  I could go into labor anytime!  I want it to be a good experience, of course.

Well I've rambled on enough about our tummy issues.  Here's hoping everyone we know dodges this nasty bug.
